Division of Public Safety & Security officers and staff joined several local public safety agencies to participate in the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s 21st Annual Shop with a Cop event at the Scio Township Meijer. To help keep everybody healthy, this year’s event was conducted in a hybrid fashion for the third year in a row.
Code-named “Operation Special Delivery,” local officers, firefighters, and volunteers shopped with their participating families via a Zoom call, checking many fun items off their holiday wish lists. Meijer also donated a coat, a hat, and gloves to each child. All items were wrapped with a bow and delivered to eager children waiting at their homes the same night.
Adding to the festivities, University of Michigan Police K9 Officer Sue Upton stopped by with a special guest! K9 Nike, even though he’s loving retirement, could not resist coming out to see his friends and absorb all the love and attention as he wandered the store, popping into Zoom calls to wag “Hello” to the kids at home. Donations for the annual Shop with a Cop event are collected year-round. If you would like to donate to this incredible event, visit the WCSO Shop with a Cop web page.
