The University of Michigan’s Division of Public Safety and Security’s Michigan Medicine Security SAVE (Situational Awareness for Violent Events) Training team was among the nine individuals and six teams who were presented with Staff Impact Awards at the online ceremony on July 21 by U-M President Mark Schlissel.
This special recognition honors those who have displayed outstanding innovation in support of the mission of the university.
SAVE Training is an innovative program developed by Michigan Medicine Security (MMS) to prepare and empower staff to take control of their safety. Through both classroom and hands-on training, participants learn best practices for handling aggressive behaviors and responding to acts of violence. In addition to members of MMS that comprise the SAVE team, Clinical Nurse Educators, guest service specialists, security, and police officers have been added to the instruction team to further enhance and deliver the training.

Holcomb Jr., associate vice president for human resources. “Their commitment, professionalism, and passion to excel are wonderful examples of how we can all do our part to help Michigan rise to every challenge.
