The Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) is investigating multiple car-related incidents.
These have included auto theft, attempted auto theft, and attempted entry into an occupied vehicle. Additionally, a suspect entered a victim’s car and directed them to drive to another location; the suspect was later identified and arrested, underscoring the importance of prompt reporting.
While there is no evidence to suggest that the incidents were related and no indication of an ongoing threat, we encourage everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Your cooperation and awareness are crucial in maintaining a safe campus environment.
Safety Tips:
- Trust your instincts: If a situation feels unsafe, choose an alternative option.
- Seek help if threatened: Use a blue light emergency phone or call 911.
- Report suspicious behavior: If you see something, say something.
- Stay secure: Lock your car doors and stay aware of your surroundings, especially in low-lit areas.
If you have information about these or other incidents, please contact DPSS at 734-763-1131, text 377911, or call the confidential tip line at 1-800-863-1355.
