SECURITY BULLETIN: Assault in Off-Campus Neighborhood

The Ann Arbor Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred at an off-campus neighborhood in the area of Burns Park, near Baldwin Ave on February 8, 2020, around 6:30 p.m. 

A student was approached by an unknown male who asked her if she was a student athlete. She responded yes and he immediately began punching her in the face and ribs with a closed fist. The victim then pushed the suspect away then fled the area.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 25-30 years of age, dark hair, average build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored pants.

  • Be aware of your surroundings and look assertive.
  • Trust your intuition. If a particular situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alternative
  • If possible, walk with a friend or co-worker in well-lit areas
  • If you feel threatened, look for a blue light emergency phone or call 911 from any phone.
  • If you see something, say something. Report suspicious behavior. Call 911
