UM EMERGENCY ALERT

UM EAlert Ann Arbor: Emergency reduction of operations in effect from 12AM Wednesday through 7AM Friday.

Dear U-M Ann Arbor Faculty, Staff and Students,

Due to extreme low temperatures and wind chill, the Ann Arbor campus has issued an emergency reduction in operations beginning tonight at 12 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 and ending 7 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1. University officials will continue to monitor the weather conditions and make adjustments if needed.

The reduction in operations includes the cancellation of all classroom and laboratory instruction and also extends to all non-critical services and operations. This reduction does not apply to Health System staff who should follow the direction of their Department.

With reduced operations, only previously identified critical employees are expected to make every reasonable effort to report to work if operations are being maintained in the employee’s unit, or unless notified otherwise by their supervisor.

Employees with questions about whether they are required to report to work during an emergency reduction in operations are advised to contact their unit supervisor for clarification.

When outdoors remember to dress appropriately and cover all exposed skin. Even brief periods of exposure to these extreme temperatures can be hazardous, and faculty, staff and students are urged to stay indoors as much as possible.
