Several vehicle break-ins near campus have been reported to the Ann Arbor Police Department.
Overnight on Nov. 1, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 9 a.m., several vehicle break-ins were reported on the following streets: Berkshire, Devonshire, Lorraine, Vinewood and Hill.
AAPD is enhancing police patrols in this neighborhood.
There are several ways you can help protect your property and prevent vehicle break-ins. DPSS strongly encourages you to:
- Lock your car doors.
- Do not leave valuable items in your car. Either remove the items or be sure that they are not visible. This includes electronics, purses, backpacks, wallets, money (even change), etc. Thieves may look through car windows for valuables. Leaving them in plain sight will make your vehicle a more likely target.
- Registering your electronics (such as a laptop) with DPSS can help deter theft and assist in the recovery of stolen property.
If you are a victim of a break-in or larceny or see any suspicious behavior, please contact AAPD at (734) 994-2911 or use their Tip Line (734) 794-6939 or tips@a2gov.org.
